Illustration challenge/ Market

I have discovered that packing board is the best stuff to draw on! It doesn't tare or wrinkle, you can blend really well on it, you'll never rub a whole through it and you don't need to frame it! I love it!

Illustration challenge update

Week 15: Detail

Technically this theme doesn't start until tomorrow, but I finished early and had to share.
This is done in coloured pencil and the first I've done in this style. I've never been good with pencils so I'm really surprised at how it turned out. It was meant to be bigger but I got impatient and started rushing and mucked up the edges. I need to learn that it's ok to spend more than 1 day on a piece. (especially if I'm already early)

Illustration challenge updated

Week 14: Simplicity

Done with fine liner, watercolour and pencil. I was originally going to go for simple shapes and plain colours for this theme, but after seeing some other submissions I decided to take a more conceptual approach. Hopefully it isn't too vague. (Hint: It's about craving simplicity)

The background of the blog was my second submission. I was just lucky enough to need a simple picture to use as a back drop.

INTRODUCTION

I will be splitting this blog up into sections that represent each area of my arty life. These sections are:

Pip & Lily

Pip & Lily is the name of my market stall that I have been operating in Warrnambool for a little over a year. I sell jewellery, art, soft toys, clothing and small decorative items all handmade by me. In this section I hope to share some new ideas, inspiration and designs for upcoming projects.

52 week illustration challenge

This year I have been participating in a fantastic challenge through Facebook where every week the group members are given a new subject to illustrate. It has been the best motivation and is pushing me towards my illustrating dream. I will update weekly with the theme and my submission. Week 14 starts tomorrow.

Art & Illustration

This is where I'll be sharing what I've learned through practicing and experimenting with different styles and mediums.
